An overview of our recent changes

A Beka Academy's video program was developed, field tested, and introduced to the classroom in 1985. The outcome is an effective, affordable program! At Harbour Lake Christian Academy we will be using this DVD Program to enhance the education of our 3rd-8th graders.

The classroom area is divided into different sections using partitions. A TV is hung at eye level so that each child will be able to view the DVD with ease. Each TV has an earphone jack box connected to it so that each child can control his/her listening volume.

The teacher will begin each day by taking attendance and doing the normal procedures to get ready to start off the school day. Then at 8:30AM class begins with Bible. Throughout the day the students will watch the DVD and get instruction from the DVD teacher and the on-site teacher will be there to help answer any questions that may arise. The on-site teacher will still be able to give the one on one help that a traditional teacher would give. Plus if your child is struggling with a topic or misses a day of school the DVD can be rented for a small fee so that it can be viewed at home.

We will be offering the following special area classes for the upcoming school year: art, music, P.E., Spanish, & computer lab/library. These special area classes will be taught in the traditional manner. Each class will be on the same day of the week every week for the entire school year. At the beginning of the school year you will receive a schedule letting you know what day each special area will be for your child.

1st and 2nd grade will remain the same.
